Carpenter - Restaurant & Retail Construction (Finance)
SUMMARY Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.
Prepares layout, with the use of sight levels and laser, from established control points. In some cases, may be required to install/verify control points.
Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
Shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
Erects framework for structures.
Performs work in accordance with industry and company standards.
Responsible for the communication, implementation and enforcement of Gray's safety program on site.
Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
Work on top of ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have basic business mathematical skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or other forms.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear. They are regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is generally moderate to loud. Overtime may be required.
