(S) Technology Project Coordinator (Engineering)
SXSW aims to have the best event technology in the world. We rely heavily on custom, proprietary software to make that a reality. The Technology Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the requirements, tasks, resources and timelines necessary for project success. Managing projects through the planning, implementation, testing and release phases is required. The ideal candidate must work well within a team, have excellent communication skills and be effective in a demanding environment with multiple concurrent projects.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop and maintain project requirements, timelines and documentation
Work independently to track project dependencies, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation and deployment
Manage vendors and business partners to deliver work on schedule and within agreed upon scope
Manage and lead projects with limited oversight
Contribute to program planning and process improvement initiatives
Communicate progress via clear status reports to management
Be the liaison between developers and vendor technical teams
Must be able/willing to work long hours and pitch in with physical production work during the March event.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven working knowledge of project management life cycles
Knowledge of various software development methodologies and technologies
Knowledge of current event technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven problem solving ability in high pressure, time sensitive environments
Ability to plan strategically for short and long term goals
Must be adaptable in a dynamic business environment
Must exhibit professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff
Event coordination / production experience is a plus
Familiarity with the following tools is a plus: Jira, Github, Zendesk and Basecamp
Frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Walking multiple miles a day during the event. This position potentially requires being in front of a computer screen & using a telephone for extended periods of time. Schedules may vary during the on-site operational period. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard and computer use. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. This position may require you to stay upwards of 10 consecutive days away from home during the event. Personnel must be up to date with CDCs recommendations for COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters - approved by the CDC for travel to the US - to work in the SXSW offices, attend SXSW in-person meetings, and work on-site during SXSW and SXSW EDU.
Work Location & Schedule:
Position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10am 6pm. Must be available to work additional hours from January March to include evenings and weekends.
