R&D Engineer II (Finance)

As a R&D Engineer II, you will design and develop innovative customized solutions of spinal medical device products. You will actively seek out Voice of the Customer (VOC) input and rapidly translate that into product requirements, design specifications, and mechanical concepts. You will work independently under general direction and may serve as core team member in an extended team. The product focus will be on customized spinal implants and instrumentation to treat degenerative, deformity, and tumor/trauma conditions.
A Day in the Life
• Gathers customer input and understands use conditions of surgeon requests for customized instruments.
• Conceptualizes simple to moderately complex instrumentation designs or modifies existing designs that meet the expectations and uses of the customer.
• Defines and performs verification and validation activities ensuring products meet user needs and intended use. This includes understanding system interfaces, use cases and conditions, investigating and resolving system and design issues, making improvements to address customer feedback and requests, and leading testing activities.
• Prepares CAD models for 3D printing, electronic transfer, simulations, and presentations
• Creates drawings and works with procurement group for manufacturing of designs.
• Ensures personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are applicable. Follows all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
Skills & Abilities:
• Utilizes computer-aided design tools (CAD), primarily Pro-E/Creo.
• Utilizes computer information systems to process and store design information.
• Experience in product concept development, functional analysis, use case and condition identification, interface definition and control, verification and validation on a cross functional team on simple to moderately complex projects.
• Able to conceptualize ideas based on set of identified needs and requirements.
• Strong collaborator in a cross-functional team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
• Ability to multi-task and progress several projects simultaneously.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required with 2+ years of experience or Advanced Degree with 0+ years of experience required.
Nice to Have
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technically related degree - Mechanical Engineering preferred
• 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably medical device experience.
• Proficiency with CREO, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD program
• Proficiency with drawing standards including GD&T and tolerance stacks
• Ability to effectively communicate and work cooperatively with other cross-functional teammates.
• Demonstrated experience sharing information, status, needs, and issues with others to inform, gain input, and support decision-making.
• Experience working in a FDA regulated and/or medical device environment with ISO and Quality System Regulation requirements
• Manufacturing knowledge of machining and 3D printing.
