S3, Inc. is a woman owned small business founded in 1991, headquartered in Huntsville, AL, that provides technical, programmatic, and logistics services to US Department of Defense, other US Government Agencies, and Partner Nation militaries, co-located with Government requirements. S3 has a wholly owned subsidiary, KBFS, that provides aviation pilot training, heavy lift, aircraft maintenance, and related aircraft services to Government and commercial requirements IAW multiple FAA certifications. The S3 staff is 70% veterans. The company operates under an ISO 9001/AS9100 certified quality management system.
S3 Inc. is seeking a Director of Operations to be part of the leadership team at our Cummings Research Park HQ, in Huntsville, AL. This position is onsite at S3 and is not a teleworking position.
Position Description: The Director of Operations reports to the CEO and is tasked with the day-to-day administrative and operational business functions of a technical services defense contractor. Must have hands on experience in Finance, Accounting, HR, Recruiting, IT, Contracts, Purchasing, Facilities, and Pricing. Will perform as a resourceful problem solver, will possess strong leadership skills, and have a history of quality control through conducting business operations within ISO 9001/AS9100 for a company greater than 500 employees. Must have strong analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills. The Director of Operations focuses on executing the company's business plan, according to the established policies, procedures, strategy, ethics, business model, customer base, and growth expectations and works with the leadership team to materialize the growth strategy. Works with the Quality Manager to identify and minimize operational risks, using key performance indicators within each operational function to project, identify, quantify, and mitigate risks, where effectiveness is measured by KPIs for operations; by rate stability for budget controls, and, by audit results from federal audit agencies. Must be capable of working across the range of job requirements, from writing work instructions for an HR task to building a pricing volume for a proposal to preparing and briefing executive leadership. Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Experience with Deltek Costpoint is preferred.
Experience/Skills Required : 15 years of experience in defense contracting business operations leadership, along with 8 years of experience reporting to the President/CEO, as a SR VP of Operations or COO, with accountability for the day-to-day corporate business operations.
Education Required: A Bachelor Degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred.
Security Clearance Required: Have an active Top Secret Clearance or have the ability to get a TS Clearance.
