Global Marketing Communications Intern (Marketing)

Scope:

The Summer Intern program provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to overall business objectives of the organization.  In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage interaction with many levels within the organization, including the Leadership Team. The internship provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience working on a global marketing team for a large, global organization.

Job Summary:

We seek an enthusiastic and driven Marketing Communications Intern to join the Global Marketing Communications Team. This internship position will be responsible for driving three (3) important projects that will add value to the team, and shape the way we work beyond the internship period. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable marketing communications experience across a breadth of initiatives, while working closely with stakeholders within global and regional marketing teams.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • CORE PROJECT 1: Develop key content for 2 internal e-learning modules
    • Evaluate existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), trainings, and user guides for the digital asset management (DAM) system and CooperVision's ad/promo process to fully understand both tools and how they are used across the organization.
    • Update existing written content for both training modules via PowerPoint and recommend different ways to present this information to users (including via video, infographics, illustrations, etc.)
    • Present PowerPoint training content for both modules to the Global Communications Team.
  • CORE PROJECT 2: Assess areas of opportunity and make recommendations for the improvement of Global Marketing Toolkits
    • Evaluate existing CVI Global Marketing Toolkits to identify opportunities for optimizing content format and user experience.
    • Identify best-in-class toolkit examples from other organizations outside of the industry to inform the recommendation.
    • Collaborate with Global Marketing Communications, Global Digital, and regional stakeholders to gain input. Includes the development and deployment of a survey and analyzing the results to determine a path forward.
    • Explore options for the packaging and delivery of toolkit materials and assets, including digital platforms such as the digital asset management (DAM) system.
    • Based on findings, present proposed recommendation to the Global Communications Team.
  • CORE PROJECT 3: Update content for the Global Communications Team Intranet pages
    • Identify opportunities to improve design and user experience both within the current content management system and new platforms the organization is exploring.
    • Update existing content on the Global Communications Team Intranet pages by working closely with members of Global MarCom, Global Digital, and Global PR.
    • Develop a migration plan to transition content to the new CMS platform.

In addition to the three (3) core projects listed above, as part of this internship there will be opportunities to be immersed in other aspects of Global Marketing Communications, which may include: greater exposure to Global Marketing Communications and/or cross-functional roles via shadowing opportunities, attending global staff or regional meetings, and other smaller projects as they arise.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Well-versed in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with good critical thinking skills
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and follow-through skillset
  • Professional demeanor
  • An aptitude for exploring and learning new digital platforms such as the digital asset management system and e-learning software

Work Environment:

  • Based in Rochester, NY (Victor office)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model (i.e. mix of professional office setting and remote work)
  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer (email communications, attendance in meetings virtually and in-person)
  • This is a paid internship

Experience:

•     Prior internship experience at marketing organization or agency is preferred

Education:

  • Current college or graduate student, majoring in advertising, communications, or marketing (if undergrad, entering their Junior or Senior year).
