Lead Data Engineer (Finance)

We are currently recruiting a Lead Data Engineer to join the team to help build data and analytical tools and frameworks to support our fast-growing analytics environments using the latest developments in technology, data engineering, and data science. This position can be fully remote or based in Richmond, VA
What you'll be doing:
• Work cross-functionally with diverse partners to understand business needs and collaboratively develop high impact data and technology solutions
• Lead an agile team of data engineers and vendor partners to onboard new data, assess data quality, design data models, create curated data sets or data marts, build data pipelines, or enable machine learning models.
• Apply knowledge of SQL, Python or R in Spark environment to optimize query and job performance on large data sets
• Communicate complex technical information to project teams and partners in an effective and concise manner and promote data and technology literacy
• Build and present documentation on work products, such as logical or physical data models, solution architecture, code review, or sprint deliverables.
• Participate as a technical resource for a variety of information projects that will be dictated by current business needs and technological developments
What we want you to have:
• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Decision Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields. Advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years of experience working in the data analytics space
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure and Databricks
• Experience with large-scale data collection and analysis
• Experience with batch, streaming, or API-based data integration patterns
• Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques, machine learning and data visualization tools, such as Power BI or Tableau
• Strong knowledge of programming languages, such as SQL, Python, R or Scala, preferably in a Spark environment
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of agile project management methodology
• Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and non-technical partners
