Performs and is responsible for all accounting operations including client invoicing and collections, accounts payable, cost accounting, general ledger accounting, budgets, and forecasting.
Manages all monthly, quarterly and year-end closing, including account reconciliations, schedules, general journal entries, financial reports and providing accurate and timely financial data to corporate accounting and auditors as required.
Ensures the quality over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Works closely with the Office Manager to monitor day-to-day operations including accounts payable, expense management, vendor management, payroll and any special regulatory reports.
Coordinates with payroll service 1) to transmit payroll, 2) to ensure that payroll taxes are paid and returns are timely filed, including w2s, and 3) to insure that pay records and the pay information in the accounting system are in agreement.
Enters and pays accounts payables from vendors, employee expense reports and other approved expenses.
Prepares and publishes timely monthly financial statements and other financial reports such as backlog of contracts awaiting completion, performance compared to budget, financial forecasts and employee utilization.
Prepares and distributes client invoices. Provides follow-up as necessary and timely response to client inquiries.
Prepares deposits and posts electronic payments and electronic withdrawals to bank accounts.
Provides project managers and senior management with financial data and reports on project results.
Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting and project management systems. Provides system training for new hires and system updates.
Works with outside vendor to ensure professional firm licenses and state reports are filed timely.
Qualifications:
Similar experience in a professional services environment or a relevant role in accounting.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Skilled in the use of accounting software and experience in troubleshooting common accounting system problems.
Clear understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
A minimum of three years of accounting experience and a B. S. degree in accounting.
