Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The Learning Experience Designer is responsible for developing and launching high-quality learning experiences and materials that effectively deliver technical knowledge and skills for cardiac surgeons, first assists, and OR staff. This role leverages content design and project management abilities as much as hands-on application of skills and training delivery. The individual in this role will interact with Intuitive customers, field trainers, engineers, regulatory teams, instructional designers, and multimedia developers to design, develop, and launch training curricula.

Essential Job Duties

Training and facilitation:

  • Serve as a da Vinci technical subject matter expert, maintaining up-to-date knowledge, expertise, and certifications to inform and drive training execution and curriculum development.
  • Deliver virtual and in-person training sessions to diverse internal and external audiences applying comprehension of cardiac specialty learner roles and procedural workflow context as needed.
  • Conduct surgeon/physician technical trainings in training lab environment
  • Conduct iterative testing and formal validation of technical training materials designed for internal and external audiences, including required and recommended training activities that drive the safe and effective adoption of Intuitive's technology for cardiac procedures.
  • Conduct technical sign-offs to qualify Intuitive employees on applicable training content in support of cardiac product and procedure launches.
  • Leverage and collaborate with cross-functional expertise (e.g., regulatory teams, engineers, field trainers, etc.) and data to analyze and enhance effectiveness of training offerings.
  • Evaluate various usability factors including regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and procedure-specific nuances, to develop effective training solutions and to influence Intuitive product design for Cardiac applications.
  • Provide requirements, support development and integration of advanced training models into cardiac training experiences
  • Curriculum design and content development:
  • Create learner-centric experiences, journeys, and training strategies that adhere to adult learning theory and instructional design principles.
  • Design and develop accessible, engaging, and effective role-based training experiences for cardiac application of da Vinci technical skills - including but not limited to training guides & protocols, videos, scripts, e-learning modules, onboarding modules, assessments, and facilitator presentations.
  • Analyze learner engagement, feedback and assessment results to make data-informed improvements to training materials, ensuring relevance and impact in real-world applications.
  • Apply team best practices on instructional strategies, assessment techniques, and evaluation criteria to deliver measurable learning outcomes.
  • Design competency-based assessments and certification programs to enable role and competency-based skill progression.
  • Participate in and support video production, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Project management and communication:
  • Independently manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong ability to change direction based on business needs.
  • Support global expansion of cardiac training pathways through regional customization of offerings and train-the-trainer certification programs.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams and experts, external partners, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Participate in organizational and departmental-led initiatives to drive operational excellence, efficiency, process standardization, and improved workflows.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in training design and/or project management
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in teaching or training
  • Experience in data analysis and developing data-driven strategies
  • Capacity and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively on projects with aggressive timelines
  • Experienced multi-tasker; ability to manage multiple assignments and successfully meet deadlines
  • Self-starter who is solution-oriented and execution-oriented
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High capacity with excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign, Acrobat DC

Required Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree or above (Business Management, Engineering, or Science degree preferred; education or marketing degree acceptable)

Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit or stand for multiple hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • Ability to work in lab environments with specialized equipment or models

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience creating educational materials for adult learners and delivering training
  • Medical device experience or clinical / operating room experience
  • Background in cardiac specialty is preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $109,600 USD - $157,600 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $93,200 USD - $134,000 USD
Shift: Day
Workplace Type: Purposeful Onsite - This job requires being onsite for leader-defined events and activities which could be monthly/annually. Onsite frequency may increase based on business need. Apply
