Job Purpose/Overview

The role of the Operations Assistant is to support the Operations Manager and team in delivering and executing the site operations strategy. The Operations Assistant is responsible for project managing the delivery of the Mars Supply Excellence program including management of the standards, resources and being a highly technical individual in the FMOS and AM pillars. The role exists to ensure operational excellence and execution of how core Mars processes. The role is highly technical ensuring lead processes are implemented in the factory including upskilling of shift manager and supporting roles, project management and coaching.

Key Responsibilities

Please list the most important and relevant responsibilities

  • Tools for Success - Coordinating the operations portion of the MSE program while leading the AM pillar and coaching the other MSE pillar leaders and members in FMOS. Providing training to other Associates
  • Drive Change with Continuous Improvement Efforts- Driving key improvement projects in particular managing the Autonomous Maintenance and FMOS pillars providing updates on progress, measuring success and maintaining Associate communications
  • Impact Results - Ensure flawless execution of the AM and FMOS pillars being the technical expert on site to project manage the delivery and coach/upskill line managers and other technical experts on site

  • Empower Teams - Training and coaching problem-solving skills for all plant employees and actively supporting the teams in problem solving activities (EDPS, BDE, Six Sigma if applicable) coordinating closely with regional/global MSE teams and assuring compliance to corporate MSE standards.

  • Site Strategy - Ensure delivery of the site strategy when it concerns MSE delivery including project management, milestone tracking, upskilling and roll out of the AM and FMOS pillars

  • Description of interfaces (e.g.: related departments, customers, suppliers etc.) Direct contact with all site functions, central supply / PPI functions
  • Driving cross functional collaboration on site with the other technical teams to ensure overall success
  • Leading teams through a change management process and supporting them through coaching.
  • Understanding of Key Performance Indicators and usage of those KPIs to drive results through factory driven processes.

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree level with a high level of numeracy and analytical capability, with strong communication skills.
  • Relevant working experience in a production/TPM environment. Previous Line Management experience/leadership experience of teams without direct control.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven skills and experience in TPM/CI/MSE
  • Up to 5 years of successful experience in Operations, TPM, Engineering functions
  • Strong affinity for analytical work
  • Green/Black Belt
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
