Space Security Specialist (Finance)



Preferred Qualifications Include
  • Prior security, space management, or customer service experience
  • Experience in USF-specific systems for building management (Excel, Microsoft Office, 25Live, etc.)
  • CPR and AED certified
  • Proof of Security Training D or G. From Florida Division of Licensing.

  • Perform daily walkthroughs upon arrival and departure to ensure the building is free of damages and potential threats to operations (approximately 30-40 minutes per walkthrough).
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, promptly addressing and resolving any violations.
  • Oversee and maintain AED equipment and ensure functionality.
  • Respond to security incidents affecting the building, collaborating with relevant agencies to mitigate risks and address breaches.
  • Develop and implement protocols for emergency situations, ensuring preparedness and swift response.

Staff and Faculty Training:
  • Coordinate and schedule training sessions to prepare staff and faculty for emergency situations, including but not limited to:
  • Active threat preparedness training.
  • CPR and AED training sessions.
  • Fire extinguisher operation training.

Honors Ambassador (HA) Team Oversight:
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises of a team of Honors Ambassadors (HAs) to perform guest services. Ensures team members are well-prepared to uphold performance standards during operational hours
  • Manages timecards for HAs and train new HAs to serve as receptionists and clerical staff
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HAs, providing guidance and support.
  • Maintain and update the Honors Ambassador handbook and procedural guidelines.
  • Manage the scheduling of HA shifts, including handling shift additions and drop requests.
  • Plan and execute team-building activities to foster collaboration and engagement.

Innovation and Research:
  • Stays informed about emerging technologies and innovations that can enhance building security and operational efficiency.
  • Stays abreast of new university policies, ensuring the building adheres to the highest standards.

Event Support and Other Duties:
  • Provide on-site support during high-profile and after-hours events to ensure the safety of the building and its guests. Coordinating with UPD when their presence is needed at an event.
  • Assist with card access management when the Building Manager is unavailable.
  • Review security camera footage as needed to report incidents or support investigations.
