Sales Engineer (Sales)

Position Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be located in Central Midwest region, and provides the leadership required to plan, manage, supervisor, and coordinate the activities related to the sale and promotion of products and services of the assigned business unit. Is responsible to facilitating the development of new market strategies including analytically discovering new product platform development profiles, finding new business opportunities, maintaining existing accounts, and advising/guiding the business in the most effective use of resources for the purpose of meeting the territory's growth goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage all aspects of the sales process for the accounts located in the territory as defined by leadership either geographically or by company. Included in this are the following tasks:
o Qualify customers
o Generate sales opportunities
o Qualify opportunities
o Gather the engineering data required to identify the solution required to satisfy the customer's need
o Recommend engineering solutions to customers
o Develop a strategy for winning identified opportunities
o Follow up on quotes
o Secure purchase orders
o Manage customer expectations
o Effectively communicate the wants and needs of customers to the inside sales personnel and company management through established channels
• Manage customer relations for the accounts located in the territory defined by leadership either geographically or by company. Included in this are the following tasks:
o Liaison with manufacturing and the customer to ensure that delivery changes are handled professionally and with the least amount of discomfort for the customer as dictated by the needs of the company
o Liaison with quality assurance and the customer to ensure that quality issues are handled professionally and expeditiously to the satisfaction of the customer
o Liaison with engineering and the customer when solving technical problems at the customer
o Liaison with engineering and the customer on the development of prototype parts
o Liaison with engineering and the customer when scheduling the delivery of prototype parts
o Manage any other interaction between the company and the customer heretofore unmentioned
• Work with local reps and rep firms (if present) to facilitate the sales process
• Work with advertising and market implementation plans set forth by the company, which includes but is not limited to the following activities:
o Lead generation
o Lead Qualification
o Lead Follow-up
o Trade show participation
• Provide written reports back to the company on all customer contacts or developments of significance
• Provide quarterly business reviews for their territory in the format specified by the sales manager
• Participate in the company's annual sales forecast for the following fiscal year
• Follow all company policies regarding personal behavior in the workplace
• Follow company standards and procedures
• Follow all company safety regulations
• Work under the direction of the Regional Sales Manager or Designee with a minimum amount of supervision
• Other assigned duties as required

Position Requirements:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a technical or related field from an accredited educational institution
• 1-3 years direct sales experiences; and/or combination of education and experience
• Familiar with the use of Windows based PC's and programs (MS Office suite of programs mandatory)
• Must be fluent (spoken & written) in English and the predominate language of the assigned territory
• Knowledge of the operating principles and application of BLDC, brushed, and stepper motors, motor drives, lead screws, and linear actuators as well general engineering concepts of linear and rotary motion and power transfer
• Good verbal and written communication skills; must demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills and have a strong service mindset
• Must be able to work well within a team or independently, as well as demonstrate initiative and a drive for results

Additional Characteristics:

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent working knowledge of engineering and sales principles
• Willing to work outside and beyond standard office hours (8:00AM – 5:00PM Mon-Fri) when the situation warrants
• Willing to work from a remote location to cover a geographical territory of the Sales Manager's choosing
• Willing to travel frequently with overnight stays as the needs of the customers in the territory dictate
• Strong business and work ethic
