Lonza Pharma & Biotech has an opening for a Research Chemist in their Tampa, FL location.

The primary role of the Research Chemist III is to perform scientific experiments independently with a high level of technical difficulty and a low level of supervision. To work cross functionally within the organization to provide analytical and technical support to facilitate the successful completion of projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

•    Responsible for process development in method analytics in terms of clinical phase requirements and customer expectations
•    Planning, executing, and managing scientific assignments and problem-solving techniques to support projects in Product Development
•    Demonstrates scientific/technical accountability for assignment completion at project level
•    Expertise in analytical instrumentation 
•    Collects, summarizes and analyzes scientific data to prepare reports and make presentations, as appropriate, to disseminate best practice throughout the function. 
•    Track and report on project milestones and provide status report to management.
•    Leads multiple studies and final review of study protocols, reports, SOPs and other internal guidance documents
•    May provide technical expertise and consulting to technical decisions and solves scientific problems
•    Leads investigations and troubleshoots methodology issues.
•    Mentors junior team members
•    Able to utilize good time management to meet multiple project objectives.
•    Anticipation, evaluation and implementation of trends, new guidelines and innovations in the area of expertise
•    Assist in the management of complex projects from initial inquiry, development, and execution.
•    Uses a variety of advanced experimental design and structured problem-solving techniques
•    Reviews complex reports to ensure they are based on good science and present a high-quality image of Lonza
•    Adhere to all defined Safety and Sustainability requirements and expectations and seek clarification whenever Safety and Sustainability requirements and expectations are either unknown or unclear
•    Promptly report identified Safety and Sustainability issues, problems, deficiencies, errors, incidents, and/or opportunities to management and correct where possible
•    Stop work where deemed necessary to maintain safety

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in science required (Chemistry, Microbiology or Biology preferred) Required.

  • Demonstrated Expertise (5 years) providing SME knowledge for product/processes in pharmaceutical cGMP industries.
