Maintenance Manager (Finance)
The primary purpose of the Maintenance Manager is to ensure all maintenance activities are executed correctly for production maintenance, facilities maintenance and utilities maintenance (boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment and support equipment). Responsible for activities of maintenance and utilities personnel to maximize production and facilities efficiencies. Supervise and manage stock room activities including procurement, quantities, and budget. Ensure compliance to all city, state and federal requirements for the Utilities, building, and grounds. Control maintenance department spending within budgetary guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Ensure the Maintenance Supervisor directs maintenance employees in accordance with plant guidelines. Ensure work assignments maximize production capabilities and minimize equipment downtime.Provide direction and support to the Maintenance Supervisor to develop, maintain and review equipment and preventative maintenance records to identify and avoid maintenance problems/equipment downtime trends. Monitor maintenance repair costs and provide departmental cost reports and status to ensure compliance with departmental budget. Forecast and identify repair projects to minimize production interruptions.Supervise all phases of equipment maintenance, including installation, set-up, commissioning, and repairs. Coach direct reports to ensure on-going preventative and predictive maintenance programs or maintained.Responsible for the safety and job training of the Maintenance Organization. Motivate and train employees toward safe work practices, high productivity and high quality of work. Ensure compliance with all required safety regulations and requirements. Ensure the equipment and company assets are maintained to proper safety conditions.Develop annual budget and monitor spending to budget.Ensures good relationships are maintained with contractors and vendors to negotiate best prices and services. Assist Purchasing and Manufacturing Engineering with new equipment specifications and related vendor issues.Ensure plant guidelines and policies are administered and supported by Department Supervisor and Leaders. Demonstrate consistent administration of plant and department policies and work procedures. Provide constructive feedback to direct reports, including corrective action, as necessary. Conduct periodic performance evaluations and identifies performance development opportunities for direct reports.Maintain high morale and quality focus among maintenance and utilities personnel, and manage activities to support the plants union-free status. Demonstrate leadership with the department through effective communications and while adhering to company expectations.Work with and support the all continuous improvement activities related to maximizing production capabilities and minimizing the cost of non-conformance. Work closely with the Continuous Improvement Engineer to identify opportunity areas based on data. Help deliver and execute improvement projects for the plant.Determine appropriate staffing levels for department. Participate in staffing activities including interviewing and candidate selection processes. Ensure overtime and work schedules are maintained within the budget while maintaining the plant and equipment to a high standard. Lead team and departmental meetings. Ensure meetings are provided to the Maintenance Department on plant issues, project status updates and performance against KPIs.Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area. Responsible for the Department meeting companys GMP and HACCP requirements.Responsible for all work performed and completed in conformance with any related codes, guidelines or standards established by a manufacturer or regulating body. Ensure repairs and maintenance to all equipment and facilities are performed in a neat workmanship-like manner. Hold accountable all members of the Maintenance and Utilities Department to comply with all standard safety practices, safety guidelines, and all Company guidelines and policies.Provide input on plant issues as requested.Work an eight (8) hour shift and/or overtime plus weekends as required.Demonstrate good attendance.Effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English.Coach Maintenance Supervisor in training development and execution.Provide assistance to Maintenance Supervisor in appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or at least 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated extensive industrial maintenance knowledge required of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems. Demonstrated experience with PLCs and electronic controls, refrigeration, steam/boilers, plumbing systems, welding and machine maintenance and repair. Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work with limited direction, and provide supervisory direction to skilled tradesmen. Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with computers, preferably Microsoft Office applications required. Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Must be able to demonstrate good attendance. Manual and finger dexterity. Must be able to work extended hours and/or overtime as required. Must be able to participate in job development training, such as equipment cross-training and team development training.
