Description

Urban Engineers is seeking a qualified Controller who is responsible for overseeing all functions of the Accounting & Finance Department.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Generates monthly financial statements to executive management including departmental profit and loss statements and other supporting schedules
  • Consistently analyze financial data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Support the CFO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery
  • Identify and resolve accounting and financial issues
  • Oversees the preparation and timely filing of all required corporate (federal, state and local) tax returns
  • Works with the payroll manager to execute bi-weekly payroll
  • Determines and resolves all corporate overhead issues
  • Coordinates all external corporate audits (financial, overhead, 401K, ESOP and all other audits that arise such as client or tax related)
  • Review and implement proper internal controls
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment
  • Assist with the new ERP and system setup currently in process
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: BS in Accounting
  • Minimum Experience: 5-10 years experience in a similar position plus public accounting experience
  • Preferred Education: MS in Accounting, proficient in Excel
  • License/Certifications: CPA

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Field of Expertise: Generally Accepted Accounting Standards, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards & Financial Acquisition Regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Prior cost to cost accounting experience

Working Conditions Requirements:

Normal office environment; ability to travel as required. Sedentary work, ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Hybrid work from home schedule available.
