Chemical / Environmental Technician - Martin Lake Power Plant (R&D)

Job Summary

Support solid fuel fired Power Plant activities related to the chemistry laboratory, water treatment facilities and ensures environmental compliance relative to local, state and federal environmental regulations.

Key Accountabilities

•Demonstrates ability to perform routine system checks and maintenance on monitoring equipment and analyzers.
•Ability to troubleshoot common problems with monitoring equipment and systems.
•Demonstrated knowledge of sampling and use of required analytical laboratory equipment.
•Completion of required training and certification.
•Ability to be first responder in after hours “on-call” rotation.
•Develop an understanding of environmental permits and guidelines for respective site.
•Develop an understanding of the fleet chemistry standard as it pertains to respective site.
•Participates in site safety programs and adhere to established safety procedures and practices.
•Assist with all other environmental and chemical duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

•High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
•2 Years Power Plant chemical/environmental or related experience
•Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills 
•Proficiency in water chemistry operations, preferred
•Computer software applications Knowledge preferred (Maximo, PI, PHD, Stack Vision, Fleet Vision, Microsoft, etc.)
•AC/DC electronics, and electrical troubleshooting, preferred.
•Ability to effectively communicate and interact with others both internally and externally.
•Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.
•Knowledge of environmental regulations.
•Demonstrated continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge

Key Metrics

•Develop an understanding of environmental regulations and the fleet chemistry standard as they relate to the respective site. 
•Develop skills to perform routine system checks, calibrations and maintenance on environmental and water quality monitoring equipment.
•Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
