Specialized Prevention Services Coordinator (Finance)
1. Nicotine and Substance Abuse Prevention Efforts: Reduce substance use rates and increase knowledge of risks of substance use through scheduling and implementing curriculum based programs and one-time presentations.
2. Increase availability of information on healthy lifestyle choices for youth and adults.
3. Youth Development Efforts: Planning, delivery, evaluation of youth development groups. Promote youth and adult partnerships through coordination of specified coalitions. Assist in the development of youth groups.
4. Works under a contract with the Iowa Alliance of Coalitions for Change alongside outside agencies to coordinate a statewide youth group focused on substance abuse prevention under a Federal Drug-Free Communities Support grant. Requires knowledge of tele-conferencing technology to enable group meetings as well as meeting grant reporting requirements. This position also includes maintenance of the AC4C Youth social media channel.
5. Attends and reports on agency efforts to Board of Health as well as facilitates meetings of the Story County Prevention Policy Board.
6. Supervise Prevention Specialists, Prevention Volunteers and/or Prevention Interns who are directly addressing prevention, youth employment, and youth development initiatives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prevention Specialists,
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS/EFFORT
• Administrative:
1. Coordinates and implements all aspects of program goals and the agency's prevention efforts, including all reporting requirements.
2. Conducts supervision with and provides evaluations for Prevention Specialists as assigned.
3. Assists Prevention Staff to organize and coordinate youth development efforts and the reporting of those efforts.
4. Completes data collection, compiles records and studies as requested by supervisor.
• Programming:
1. Carries out assigned services as listed in grant goals and annual plans.
2. Assists in the coordination and implementation of youth development.
3. Assists in the planning and implementation of leadership retreats.
4. Encourages youth to speak publicly about youth issues.
5. Publicly recognizes positive youth efforts.
6. Encourages the placement of youth on Board of Directors, policy boards, and community boards.
7. Assists youth and adults in including youth as resources for community issues.
8. Assists with Risky Business Conference.
9. Assists with Teen Maze and takes a leadership role in the planning and delivery of the event.
10. Provides support for specialized prevention education in schools
11. Participates in coalitions as assigned and staffs when assigned
12. Assists and provides leadership to the Summer Enrichment programs to help make the experience worthwhile, safe, and educational for the volunteers and participants.

TRAVEL
Some travel may be required for this position. A valid Iowa driver's license is required.
