Business Litigation paralegal (Legal)
The Chicago office of Cozen O'Connor is seeking an experience litigation paralegal. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Trial experience required. Experience handling personal injury and complex commercial matters preferred. Comfortable prioritizing and balancing a variety of tasks. Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high intensity environment and is willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. The firm is offering a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office, 2 days remote for all paralegals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of litigation
- Assist in preparing and filing (including e-filing) of legal documents in state and federal court.
- Lead subpoena and third party records retrieval efforts.
- Case file management (create, organize, track and maintain files; monitor calendars and meeting deadlines; document actions; input information into file database and case management software).
- Document management including but not limited to review of documents, proofreading, bates labeling, organization of documents and compiling information for discovery responses, pleadings, and motions.
- Perform factual research and investigation
- Draft correspondence and memoranda for attorneys as requested.
- Trial preparation and attendance at trial (organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed).
- Case management, including advanced working knowledge of E-discovery, including the technical aspects of collecting, reviewing, and producing electronically stored information (state and federal court); experience in Relativity, LiveNote, Case/Time Map, Summation, Adobe Acrobat, and Trial Director a plus.
- Skilled at entering time in systems such as InTapp so that entries are not deducted for vague time entry descriptions or time that is excessive.
A four year bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate is required.
