Treasurer (Project Management)



Class Characteristics: This is the full-performance classification level.

This position is responsible for the collection of all taxes, licenses, fees, and other moneys belonging to the city subject to the provisions of the charter and the ordinances of the city and to enforce all laws of Georgia relating to the collection of delinquent taxes and sale or foreclosure for nonpayment of taxes to the city; this position shall also be responsible for the general duties of a Treasurer and chief fiscal officer.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility: This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Finance and Utility Billing staff, including Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Purchasing Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Payroll Clerk, Occupational Tax Clerk, and Utility Billing Supervisor and Clerks.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration or a closely related field supplemented by ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field; Certified Public Accountant preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; must possess, or obtain within 18 months of hire, state Local Finance Officer Certification (Level I); ability to accurately type a minimum of 45 words per minute; valid State of Georgia Drivers License.
