Staff Software Development Engineer (Information Technology)

Summary:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:    

• Working with your team in the Morrisville, NC location near the Research Triangle Park and with VIAVI colleagues located worldwide
• Creating and improving upon virtual and hardware test agents for the NITRO vNET Fusion product line
• Defining and optimizing new product features in close coordination with the product management team
• Solving complex engineering problems with robust product designs and code that demonstrates new ideas and technologies
• Collaborating with other technical leaders in the company to continually refine best practices for development and test, including necessary resources and metrics for successful product launches

    

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:    

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Enginering, or equivalent
• 7+ years development experience with embedded Linux systems
• Demonstrated ability in a technical role, including requirements analysis and effort estimation
• Experience with integrating and debugging network applications and systems
• Linux application development
• C/C++
• Python
• TCP/IP network protocol, sockets
• Multi-threaded applications
• Deployment and evaluation of performance on virtual machines, hypervisors, containers
• JSON, RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with continuous integration processes, CI/CD pipelines (Git, Bamboo, Jenkins, Artifactory, etc.)    

Additional preferred qualifications:

• Network test methodologies, instrumentation, packet analysis
• Linux kernel module development and creation custom drivers
• XML,  YAML
