Team Leader SOC (Information Technology)



We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Information Security for our headquarters in the Olathe, KS area (hybrid). In this role, you will be responsible for leading all security operations for Garmin's security operations center (SOC) and providing guidance and direction to the SOC for all security related events/ incidents in high pressure situations.


Responsibilities

Defense - SOC Team:

  • Lead a team of associates responsible for the execution of features, tools, and/or technologies associated with Garmin's agile scrum teams
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization to ensure mitigated cyber security risks in the environment
  • Research and recommend new technologies to meet business needs
  • Develop and continuously improve the way in which IT solutions are delivered
  • Maintain, improve, and extend existing software
  • Participate in regular or special meetings of the Cyber team to address strategies, integration, progress and/or issues
  • Directly supervise various levels of security team members by setting the tone for the team environment, providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring, scheduling work, and allocating resources
  • Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures ensuring all events/incidents are executed and documented as required by current standards
  • Assess the current state of the SOC from a program perspective and implement improvements to the pillars of people, processes, and technologies in the cyber security space
  • Provide relevant and accurate metrics using industry and Garmin standards of cyber threats
  • Guide, develop, document, and assess operational runbooks in the response to incidents against the NIST framework to provide repeatable and measurable workflow
  • Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated and ensure that all SOC requirements are met or exceeded
  • Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
  • Understands and avoids potential threats and drives counter measures for IT managed systems
  • Provides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities by providing innovation within area of expertise
  • Recognized as an expert in assigned discipline at Garmin and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in one of the fields noted above AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience
  • Highly proficient in anti-virus/anti-malware, endpoint detection and response, perimeter, event logs and other security tools
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Previous management or leadership experience
