Facility Apprentice (Construction)

Our Maintenance department plays a vital role in ensuring the ongoing functionality and upkeep of our equipment, machinery, and facilities. Composed of skilled professionals--including custodians, electricians, and AC technicians--they manage routine and facility maintenance, respond to emergencies, handle inventory, and perform equipment calibration, all while upholding safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

The Facility Apprentice supports the maintenance and upkeep of the building and its systems, including equipment such as air compressors, trash compactors, and forklifts. Responsibilities may also include minor repairs to floor and ceiling tiles, wallpaper, and carpet. This role assists in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of production machinery and equipment. Work may be performed independently or as part of a team under the guidance of a supervisor or journey-level technician.

Key Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently perform moderately complex maintenance tasks in at least one trade area.

Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

Align and balance newly installed equipment.

Clean and lubricate machinery parts such as shafts, bearings, and gears.

Collect and dispose of worn machine parts and attachments per production specifications.

Perform bricklaying to repair and maintain structures such as walls, arches, and buildings.

Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.

Paint and repair building elements such as roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, and drywall.

Record repairs and maintenance performed accurately and consistently.

Replace or repair linings and compartments in machines or equipment using materials such as metal, wood, leather, and glass.

Repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment.

Transport tools, parts, equipment, and materials between work areas as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 6 months of experience as a helper or in a related maintenance role.

Forklift certification required.

Foundational knowledge in the following areas:

Building and construction methods and tools.

Mechanical systems, tools, repair, and maintenance.

Safety practices related to chemical handling and disposal.

Basic engineering and technology applications.

Strong reading comprehension for work-related documentation.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.

Capable of lifting and transporting tools, parts, and materials as needed.

Comfortable working in various environments, including elevated areas and confined spaces.

Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and equipment.
