Photo/Video Specialist (Creative Design)

BASIC PURPOSE

Create visual narratives that move people. Whether through a photograph or video, we want to tell stories and create awareness about PSTA's innovative programs and transportation solutions.

This is a part-time position, not to exceed 24 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Deliver photos and videos aligned to PSTA's communications and marketing strategy. Monthly needs will be determined in collaboration with PSTA's public relations, digital marketing, and advertising needs.
  • Photography
    • Work alongside Digital Media Coordinator to capture images for social content.
    • Expand PSTA's photography database for graphic design / PR purposes.
    • Appear at functions including PSTA board meetings and special events to capture “photo op” moments for PSTA social media, email, and public relations use.
  • End-to-end video production aligned to PSTA's communications and marketing strategy, including:
    • Concept development: Collaborate with organization stakeholders and marketing team to write treatments & scripts based on approved concepts.
    • Production: Communicate, manage logistics of shoots. Work with other PSTA departments to schedule buses, operators or other on-screen talent.
    • Camera Operation: Must be able to operate technical aspects of camera efficiently and quickly. Have a creative eye for finding shots and know how to shape natural and artificial light. Able to craft movement through gimbal, drone, handheld techniques.
    • Audio Recording: Execute clear audio utilizing lavalier, directional mics, and audio mixing. Give clear direction to on camera talent whether through lines or action.
    • Interviewing: Able to ask engaging questions that pull out captivating stories / information. Comfortable working with CEO, board members, and local elected officials.
    • Post-Production: Actively research new editing techniques, style inspiration and reference visuals to inspire new ideas with powerful storytelling in mind.
    • Asset Management: Organize photo and video on PSTA servers, ensuring that b-roll and photo is catalogued effectively for users across the organization
    • Versioning: Photo/video specialist will need to shoot and edit with end-use in mind, including graphics for thumbnail images, short-form and vertical video edits for social media, .srt files for subtitling, etc.
  • Understand marketing basics and use-case for various outputs.
    • Photos and videos created by the photo/video specialist will be used for various marketing, public relations, and governmental needs (grant applications, advocacy, and similar).
    • Typical shoot concepts include from commercial, promotional videos, social media assets, event recaps, and documentary style.
  • Additional duties include:
    • Media Event Coverage and AV support at media events: Work alongside team to set up/stage media events to have maximum visual impact. Run sound equipment for stage and audio feed for media.
    • Proactively find stories/ideas and pitch to the marketing team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience shooting digital video, recording sound, and using contemporary post production software to effectively create digital storytelling.  
    • Must provide link to photography / video work. We want to see your creative eye and ability to create fun content as well as tell a good story.
      • Please be sure to include at a minimum headshot photography, ad style short length video, and long format story telling style video.
  • License Requirement
    • Must have a valid Florida Drivers' license.
    • Must be able to work toward attaining Commercial Drone Pilot License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of
    • Video production tools and techniques including Premier Pro or Davinci Resolve, camera and microphone equipment; exporting video requirements for various online platforms (Twitter vs YouTube vs Embedded); appropriate media tools for various types of communications; social media conventions and best practices.
  • Skilled in
    • Practical and technical photography and videography skills, strong written and verbal communications; strong visual storytelling skills.
  • Abilities
    • Deadline oriented with ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines; ability to quickly adapt to changing needs and circumstances; working in a team; must be able to lift at least 60 lbs.
    • Must be able to collaborate with leadership and receive constructive feedback on all pitch ideas and edit notes.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Experience in using both professional equipment and Canon DSLR cameras
  • Must have knowledge of using directional microphones and lavalier microphones
  • Must have experience using portable audio mixers
  • Must have experience using XLR cables
  • Must have experience using professional production lights
  • Must have experience using Adobe Suite
