Senior IT Budget Analyst (Information Technology)

 COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

  • Senior IT Budget Analyst Pay Range: $76,000-$96,900

The Senior IT Budget Analyst is responsible for:

  • Preparing information to assist senior IT management in the preparation and management of the annual IT budget including forecasting and tracking the budget on an ongoing basis
  • Tracking and auditing SPP software license ownership and usage
  • Acquiring, managing and tracking telecommunications circuits
  • Budget Forecasting, Tracking, Reconciliation, and Reporting – Work with the IT Management team to discuss anticipated purchases and invoices and correlate with the approved IT budget. Work with Finance to reconcile actual costs with forecasted expenditures on at least a monthly basis. Review and assess current budget status, costs, expenditures, and remaining balances to date per category.
  • Budget Reporting – On a monthly basis, produce regular budget forecasts for IT and review IT budget status with senior IT management team.
  • Budget Development and Correlation – Assist senior IT management in the development of the IT budget by providing historical data for reference, forecasting for potential budget increases, and gathering annual IT budget requirements and requests. Collaborate with senior IT management to develop a uniform, combined IT budget and accompanying materials and justifications.
  • Expenditure and Project Correlation – Ensure that all requested IT expenditures are properly annotated according to their associated project/SPP contract service, purchase order, and/or support activity.
  • Variance Analysis – Work with Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounting staff as needed to provide variance explanations for deviances from IT forecast and IT budget.
  • Annual Budget Recap and Review – On an annual basis, provide a debrief on the IT budget from the prior year to IT management.
  • Telecommunications Circuit Management – Work with IT and other SPP departments to coordinate alignment of IT budget and telecommunication circuit requirements. Identify and vet circuit vendors. Conduct pricing and contract negotiations to secure favorable pricing and contracts. Track and evaluate circuit cost and service quality.
  • Software License Management – Provide ongoing tracking and auditing of SPP-owned/leased software licenses. Collaborate with various software owners to ensure alignment on software usage and contractual obligations. Perform internal audits and support external vendor audits related to software usage and entitlements. Develop and maintain reporting on software usage, compliance risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform tasks or special projects, as assigned by the management team.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or a related field

Experience Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience with corporate budgeting processes

Competency Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • General ledger experience
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility and the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
