Position Title: Director, Data Governance (M4)

Role:

At Crown Castle, we are driving digital transformation by leading with data.  As such, we are seeking a Director, Data Governance for our tower business.  This position will oversee the project roadmap that addresses governance, quality, mastering, and literacy around data.  You will be responsible for executing and evangelizing the data governance strategy and capability with stakeholders across the business.  This is a new capability and an opportunity to shape this new and important function at Crown Castle.  The ideal candidate will have experience as part of a technology organization working in a project context. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership in developing recommendations around policies, standards, and frameworks for data governance, and implement and maintain a data governance structure aligned to enterprise data governance
  • Design, implement, and lead a Data Governance and Stewardship program with the business
  • Facilitate implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance goals, standards, practices, processes, and technologies
  • Build a data governance team and required skillsets within the organization and operationalize data governance and management procedures across the enterprise
  • Establish data steward/custodian/owner groups as required
  • Develops, implements, and communicates policies for the sharing, extraction, and usage of data
  • Monitor and manage adherence to enterprise data governance framework to achieve the required level of consistency in data definitions, sharing, quality, extraction, and usage
  • Develop and manage business relationships with key business leaders, project team members and senior leaders across the enterprise
  • Lead the development of strategies to manage standardization of new data elements and maintain existing elements, establish consistent data definitions, and monitor overall data consistency and quality

  • Demonstrated success launching data governance within a business operation solutions on-time and partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals
  • High degree of initiative and capacity to lead multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment
  • Skillful in communicating with and influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including executive leadership, employees, potential/existing customers, competitors, and business partners
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to solve problems with creative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage adversity and challenging situations
  • Knowledge of data architecture and technology solutions

Education/Certifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Mathematics, or related discipline 

Experience/Minimum Requirements   

  • 10+ years' experience in a data management leadership role
  • At least 4 years of people management experience
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data management practices
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Experience with managing Data Governance frameworks and establishing methodologies
  •  Experience in related data quality applications and tools such as Informatica IDQ 

 

Organizational Relationship  

Reports to:  Vice President, Business Performance Tower 

Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): TBD (Data Stewards, Data Governance, etc.)

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 60% of the time (3 days per week) and where you do your best work 40% (2 days per week).  There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
