Illumina is looking for a mid-level Engineer to join our Lifecycle Management team in Hayward, Ca. The Engineer 2 will play a key role in manufacturing sustainment activities of world-class DNA sequencing instruments.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, process, quality, regulatory, supply chain) to drive continuous improvements, minimize manufacturing variation, and increase first pass yield of Illumina's products. This position requires a strong background in testing, de-bugging, and trouble-shooting non-conformances of complex electro-mechanical and optical systems, identifying either manufacturing or design-related root causes and instituting systematic solutions to avoid future occurrences. In addition to all this, you will work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure work instructions and assembly tooling exist to facilitate a lean and efficient flow of production. Where necessary, you will design custom manufacturing tooling using Solidworks.
