Office Engineer (Finance)

Role description:

We are seeking an Office Engineer, with 5 years of experience, to join our Construction Management team on a NYCDEP construction project in Yonkers, NY.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As an Office Engineer you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities and general building projects to successfully execute and manage our project under the supervision of the Assistant Resident Engineers and Resident Engineer.

Role accountabilities:

As an Office Engineer you will s upport the CM's day-to-day construction oversight.

Support inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements.

Review contract documents and document field conditions to support responses to Contractor RFIs, shop drawing reviews and contract change requests.

Be responsible for project meeting agendas and minutes, general record keeping, compilation of time and material records, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables and maintenance of the project SharePoint site.

Be responsible for the contractor payment process, reviews payment items with inspection staff and recommends appropriate adjustments as necessary. Review of contractor payment documentation for completeness and accuracy.

Support the processing negotiation of change orders with material take-offs and generation of cost spreadsheets.

Update redline drawings for as-built conditions.

Be responsible for field inspection and investigation duties as necessary and as directed by the Assistant Resident engineers and Resident Engineer.

Monitor controlled and special inspection documentation.

Be responsible for other duties as assigned.

  • Technical field skills and experience.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as an Office Engineer with both technical and administrative duties and 3 years of office engineering experience specifically for Public Works Construction projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Proficiency with Construction Management Information Systems (Procore, e-Builder, PlanGrid, etc.), scheduling software (Primavera and/or MS Project) and the MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7 years of NYCDEP BEDC office engineering experience.
  • EIT, PE or professional certification such as CCM / CMIT.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
