Vice President, Sales Operations (Finance)



The Vice President, Sales Operations will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our sales operations function, ensuring alignment with our complex Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy. This role requires a leader with a proven track record of providing strategic guidance to multiple sales leaders, navigating various business models, and supporting sophisticated compensation plans. This role will be responsible for developing the strategy for the sales operating and governance models within Workforce Solutions. This position is located in our Clayton, MO (St. Louis) office and is hybrid (Tues, Wed, Thu in office) and is not a remote position.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Sales Operations:
    • Partner with sales leadership to define and implement scalable sales operations strategies that align with business objectives and support a complex GTM structure.
    • Optimize sales processes, tools, and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and data accuracy.
    • Analyze sales performance and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
    • Create the strategic roadmap for projects and processes critical to the Sales Operations team and the success of the Workforce Solutions Business Unit.
    • Drive synergies among the Sales and Sales Operations teams to enhance financial, sales process, stewardship and communications strategies.
    • Manage the core business in all aspects including subject matter expertise for sales support, training, account set-up, tracking and maintenance.
  • Leadership Support & Business Model Expertise:
    • Provide strategic guidance to multiple sales leaders, enabling them to achieve their targets.
    • Demonstrate deep experience with various business models.
    • Guide partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Sales Reporting & Analytics:
    • Drive the sales reporting roadmap, defining key metrics, building dashboards, and ensuring timely and accurate insights for sales leadership.
    • Implement and manage advanced analytics to provide actionable intelligence on sales performance, pipeline health, and market trends.
    • Ensure data integrity and consistency across all sales reporting systems.
    • Drive adoption of forecasting tools and dashboards within sales teams through a single and consistently managed process.
  • Deals Desk Management:
    • Build, implement, and lead a high-performing Deals Desk function, streamlining the deal approval process and ensuring adherence to pricing and contracting policies.
    • Collaborate with legal, finance, RFP and sales teams to facilitate complex deal structuring and negotiation.
    • Develop best practices for the Deals Desk to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and ensure progress on key metrics such as stall rates, etc.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build and lead a team of sales operations professionals.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
    • Identify and implement best practices for Sales Operations roles.
What experience you need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience managing a sales team and/or experience building a global sales enablement team
  • Extensive experience working with a complex Go-to-Market business, supporting multiple leaders, and navigating diverse business models.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving the sales reporting roadmap and implementing robust analytics solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and sales enablement tools.
What could set you apart
  • Direct experience in building and running a Deals Desk.
  • Strong understanding of how to generate effective reports, consolidate and analyze data, and design end-user reporting tools.
  • Ability to translate relevant data to multiple audiences with a wide range of skill sets and levels of comprehension utilizing demonstrated mastery in the areas of communications, presentation skills, and consulting.
  • Ability to create consensus where appropriate with both internal groups and external clients and/or strategic partners.
  • Possess a metrics-based approach and strong results orientation.
  • Ability to translate raw data analytics into actionable initiatives.
