RF System Engineer (Architecture)



Job Title: RF System Development Engineer  

Business Line Description
NXP is a leader in NFC contactless technology and building eco-system partners in the global adaption of NFC mobile payment, mobile transport ticketing and access control. The NFC System team within the business line Secure Mobile Transaction is taking care of the required architectures and RF technology to support the eco-system. The system team is taking care from early customer requirements discussions to production ramp-up and is working together with the global NFC IC and software development teams.

As part of the RF System team you will be working with a team to integrate and optimize NXP's NFC and Wireless Charging solutions to enable world leading customers to deliver outstanding NFC user-experience to the market. The team's goal is to design, debug and integration NFC/WLC into leading large volume platform. You will have and develop expertise in RF (NFC/WLC) Wireless technology and be the first to work on leading edge RF design for next generation wireless customer production platforms.   

Job Summary:

  • System Design-in and validation of RF (NFC/WLC) sub-systems
  • RF related NFC system design and validation activities for RF and system performance per RF Specifications (i.e. NFC Forum specifications and ISO/IEC standards (14443-A, B, 18092, 15693), Felica, MIFARE and EMVCo. Mobile payment)
  • Scripting, execution, reporting, debugging and tracking of validation tasks in a global product development team
  • optimization of the RF performance of our contactless products with respect to existing standards, interoperability and product requirements
  • improving of contactless compliance test systems in terms of execution speed and functionality
  • technical align with key customer in detail technical reports: debug and test report, design document, application notes

    Key Challenges:

  • Author, Script and execute complex RF test bench to confirm system level performance and requirement
  • Debug, root cause and solve complex system level problems in Ecosystem
  • optimization of the RF performance of our RF (NFC) contactless products with respect to existing standards and product requirements
  • providing detail reports with both bench measurement and system level simulation analysis
  • assist in key customers development; leading to front line customer interactions
  • PCB design and RF system level simulation experience is a strong plus

    Cross functional aspects:

  • Candidate will work in group environment with regular interaction with Internal RF team, Digital Signal processing R&D, design architecture, and FW team
  • Teams are spread in global environment with regular touch point cross team and cross site
  • Cross domain knowledge and debug with FW and DSP

    Job Qualifications:

  • a degree from Technical College or University in the field of electrical engineering, communications, computer engineering, or similar
  • 3+ years work experience
  • have solid understanding of RF communication systems (transmitter / receiver architecture know how is a plus)
  • SW Radio System knowledge (RF system optimization)
  • knowledge of manufacturing and RF calibration
  • optimization of the RF performance of our NFC contactless products with respect to existing standards and product requirements
  • desired software skills: MatLab, ADS, scripting language i.e. Python
  • have good communication and documentation skills
