PPG has an amazing opportunity for a Production Planner at our Grand Prairie, TX location. As a Production Planner, you will coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to production schedule. You will also review and distribute production, work orders, and shipment schedules. Plus, work with Production Cell Leaders to determine progress of work and completion dates. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company's productive capacity.
Responsible for the analysis of Work order releases with respect to material requirements.
Issue and review work orders against current requirements and work in process using the Material Requirement Planning Report
Work with Cell Leaders to plan and manage Production tasks to improve throughput.
Review Production plans to identify and report potential risks to Value Stream Leader.
Develop inventory control techniques to avoid shortages and excesses.
Assist Cell Leaders in controlling Production costs while maintaining the quality standards.
Monitor execution of work orders and report schedule adjustments to Contracts.
Plan and monitor material movement in Production cycles to insure continuous operations.
Interface with manufacturing personnel, the Purchasing Department and Cell Leaders on material status and production planning issues.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of MRP programs.
Ability to identify blueprints, line drawings, specifications, contract requirements and other quality-related data used in the planning process.
Solid analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to interface well with all departments within the company.
Excellent organizational skills.
Bachelor's degree or Associate Degree and at least 1 years of experience in a production planning/materials controls functions or equivalent combination of education and experience such as a broad manufacturing background of 3 to 5 years' experience.
