Network Operations Engineer (Information Technology)

Job Purpose:
 

The responsibilities of a Network Operational Engineer include the implementation, maintenance, and support of our growing customer base technologies and solutions. The right personality is an independent problem solver with a strong, positive attitude. The ability to learn and implement new technologies is paramount.  The position is part of a team of operational engineers, that are responsible for implementing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available networks that meet external customer objectives and SLAs.  The focus of this role will be around Meraki and FortiNet technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop network rollouts, projects, process flow, documentation, and on-going maintenance for assigned accounts, as they relate to Meraki and FortiNet solutions.
  • Escalation point of contact for any Meraki and/or FortiNet customer solutions.
  • Support, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate the usage of any Meraki and/or FortiNet technology.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to Meraki and/or FortiNet network infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering support for network design, performance tuning, and monitoring for ALL Meraki and/or FortiNet solutions.
  • Network incident and outage escalation for SageNet NOC.
  • Prepares other teams (CIM, Test & Turn Up, Customer Service & Support, Config-Line, Network Ops, etc.) by designing and conducting new and existing project training programs as they relate to Meraki and FortiNet products.
  • Create and maintain all required network documentation including diagrams and troubleshooting methodologies using provided tools.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • 4+ years of networking experience in environments supporting multiple vendors and networking products.
  • 2+ years of Meraki and FortiNet experience within a production environment
  • Well versed with Meraki and FortiNet products and solutions
  • Network Engineering and support of routers, switches, network security devices, and network management systems
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (SD-WAN,DMVPN, IPSEC, BGP, MPLS, VRF, QoS, STP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS, ACL's, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management
  • Proficient in the use of Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • CCNA certification or equivalent experience preferred
  • FortiNet certification NSE 4 or higher required
  • Meraki certification CMNA or higher required

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

 

  • Productively work in a hybrid work environment which consists of 2 mandatory “all-in” days, 1 variable day, and 2 virtual days.  Hybrid work environment is applied per position/department and may be subject to change per changes in the Policy.
  • Business casual office environment

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

 

  • Be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Extensive use of hands and fingers for lots of typing, and extensive use of eyes for intense focus on spreadsheets and systems on a computer screen
