Technology Practice Leader - TSM&O (Finance)



DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is actively seeking a Technology Practice Lead to guide our efforts with Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) within the State of Florida, including connected and automated vehicles (C/AV), traffic signal systems, intelligent transportation systems, arterial management, and managed lanes. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of Michael Baker's TSM&O efforts, including the identification, pursuit, and execution of TSM&O type work with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and cities and counties throughout Florida.

The position will manage, either directly or indirectly, existing Michael Baker staff with the intent to grow a team of professionals within the various Michael Baker Florida offices as well staff that could potentially be embedded within FDOT. In addition to managing staff, responsibilities include managing project schedules and budgets, coordination of multiple technical services across disciplines, handling project reporting and finances, and developing and maintaining relationships with clients. The selected candidate will perform technical oversight, staff development, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in our emerging transportation technology practice that focuses on national projects and initiatives
  • Corroborate internal and external business relationships, and recognizes new target opportunities within transportation technologies and TSM&O
  • Provide technical leadership and guide junior staff in system engineering planning, analysis, and design for projects related to connected vehicles, automated vehicles, intelligent transportation systems, managed lanes, traffic signal systems and other transportation operations and management solutions
  • Provide transportation systems planning, engineering and design as well as develop requirements and specifications
  • Provide thought leadership on the adoption, utilization, and impacts of emerging technologies
  • Lead and guide other staff on the system engineering aspects of projects
  • Provide clients with sound advice and information on local conditions that may require changes in technology or system improvements based on technology, industry advancements, or policy changes
  • Work on various phases of projects such as scoping studies, technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, data analysis, system implementation, and validation
  • Provide technical consulting and subject matter expertise to clients
  • Lead and support the development and responses to RFPs
  • Identify skill gaps and recruit additional staff to support the practice

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 15+ years of experience in progressive project management and client management including administrative and supervisory experience withing the engineering industry
  • Effectively manage clients and subconsultants
  • Expertise with C/AV, arterial traffic management and signal systems and managed lanes
  • Located or willing to relocate to one of Michael Baker's five Florida offices: Tallahassee (preferred), Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa or West Palm Beach
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida
  • Knowledge of the Florida TSMO market and relationships with FDOT Central Office and/or District Traffic Engineering and Operations Office is a plus
