Crisis Team Lead (452) (Personal Services)

The Crisis Team Lead plays a key leadership role within a multi-disciplinary behavioral health team, providing direct crisis intervention services and clinical oversight. Under the general direction of the Program Manager and with substantial latitude for independent judgment, the Crisis Team Lead is responsible for delivering mental health emergency services to individuals in crisis, conducting risk assessments, determining levels of care, and coordinating with law enforcement, families, and other agencies to ensure client safety and continuity of care.
In the absence of the Program Manager, this role assumes selected administrative, procedural, and clinical responsibilities to ensure team operations run smoothly.


How will I contribute

Provide direct mental health crisis intervention and assessment services across the county.
Independently assess risk, conduct mental status exams, determine level of care, and evaluate for involuntary hospitalization when necessary.
Develop and implement crisis and safety plans using client-centered, culturally responsive, and recovery-based approaches.
Refer individuals to appropriate follow-up care and services and assist with discharge and aftercare planning.
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for individuals seeking specialty mental health services.
Deliver psychotherapeutic interventions in line with professional and ethical standards.
Collaborate with families, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other community agencies around safety and care coordination.
In the absence of the Program Manager, provide clinical and administrative support to team members.
Offer clinical consultation and informal supervision to other Mental Health Clinicians (licensed and unlicensed).
Support documentation and crisis response training for staff as directed.
Maintain service records, logs, and other required documentation; contribute to audit preparation and performance reporting.
Assist with policy/procedure development and ongoing quality assurance activities.
Maintain shift assignment calendars and assist in managing team schedules.
Participate in the after-hours crisis response Standby rotation, including weekends and holidays.
Represent the agency in community presentations and trainings related to mental health and substance use issues.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible.



What I bring

Master's degree: Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
Current Licensure LCSW, LMFT, LPCC.
2 years of professional experience working in mental health counseling, psychotherapy, and related social services in a public or certified private welfare or health agency. Experience working with high risk and high-level acuity clients.
Class C Driving License
Working knowledge of community and hospital resources. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
Ability to quickly develop rapport with individuals to resolve crisis situations. Ability to assess individual's potential for dangerousness to self, others and/or grave disability. Ability to make a differential diagnosis between substance abuse and psychiatric emergencies. Ability to appropriately and immediately document interactions with patients and potential patients. Ability to utilize computer technology as required for admission, documentation and other uses. Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates emotional resilience, and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations. Must be compassionate, ethical, and committed to providing client-centered care. A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and a genuine dedication to supporting individuals in crisis are essential.
Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning is required.
