Automotive Analyst, Vehicle Valuations (R&D)



National Auto Research, dba Black Book, is a premier automotive data aggregation company located in Lawrenceville, GA.  Lenders use Black Book data to identify risk at loan origination and manage collateral risk on their existing loan and lease portfolios. Industry insiders and third-party vendors license our data to evaluate trends on up-to-date information. OEMs rely on our data for insights on their new models and to fully engage with more customers. Dealerships subscribe to our data services to evaluate pricing and book vehicles, and retail locations leverage Black Book's technology solutions to turn their websites, mobile sites and social media pages into the industry's best lead-generating solution.

Our team of automotive analysts are accountable for tracking, adjusting, and reporting on vehicles in various automotive markets. Analysts work closely with Data Science team to interpret raw data to curate actionable insights. They are responsible for confirming and maintaining incoming vehicle information including correct line-ups, proper add & deducts, and vehicle valuations; responsible for research and analysis on assigned vehicles to aid in residual projections.  Primary Responsibilities of the position: 

  • Gather industry insights, analyze data, and adjust used vehicle market values
  • Conduct research on specific data needs and generate insights
  • Attend auctions & watch online to track latest information
  • Keep well informed of industry activity in relation to Black Book values
  • Provide insight to forecast residual values
  • Analyze data for reports and presentations
  • Help manage and execute team projects

 Required Skills: 

  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and markets
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Critical thinking to review data and trends to arrive at conclusions
  • Must be detail oriented with passion for learning
  • Must possess strong organization skills
  • Team oriented with individual drive for results
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills to include presentation skills 

Education/Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience, preferably in automotive industry – in the used vehicle market, remarketing or automotive finance.
