Integrative Biology & Pharmacology is seeking to fill a Research Scientist position available to Study Epitranscriptional Regulation of Gene Expression in Cancer. We are looking for someone who can carry an independent research project and supervise other lab members in their research investigations. The applicant should be motivated, have good organizational and technical skills, the ability to work well in a team and demonstrate a lively interest in biological questions.
The R esearch Scientist will be part of an exciting and stimulating research environment, working closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers within the renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC). Research focuses on studying how cancer cells synthesize a specialized translation machinery that selectively produce a proteome supporting cellular transformation and tumor development. Projects in the lab involves elucidating how tRNAs and ribosomal RNA (rRNA) modifications dynamically control the capacity, efficiency and accuracy of mRNA translation. We utilize a wide array of biochemical, cellular, computational and in vivo approaches to identify pathways and novel key players involved in regulating RNA modifications in order to understand how they influence translation during breast cancer progression.
