Asset Protection Investigator (Security)



POSITION SUMMARY:

The Asset Protection Video Investigator role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” or “Company”) is responsible for providing support within the Company regarding the protection of assets and the prevention of loss (shrink). This role supports our business partners by reviewing video footage, independently analyzing point-of-sale (POS) data, as well as creating and managing case files. Further responsibilities include creating detailed and accurate reports following assignment review to be used to address training opportunities and to minimize loss due to theft and other types of preventable loss. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform warehouse and office security and safety functions as required, including staffing the monitor room and assisting in access control.
  • Support the security team during corporate sponsored events hosting vendors.
  • Assist the corporate and field teams through video audits and reviews by providing detailed reporting and summary reports as directed.
  • Identify and develop internal theft and non-compliance cases.
  • Thoroughly document and archive video footage as assigned.
  • Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures through video review and detailed report writing.
  • Act as a liaison for OSJL Associates with Asset Protection related questions by conducting video reviews and analyzing transactions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1 or more years experience working within a loss prevention department or a retail/distribution center is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
  • Knowledge of video surveillance systems.
  • Knowledge of POS exception reporting software, including building filters and sub reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
    potential. 
  • Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
