Senior Accountant (Personal Services)



This position is remote however candidate must be willing to work 3-4 days per month, on-site out of our San Dimas Corporate Office.

Salary Range: $67,000 - $80,000 + 7% Bonus eligibility

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is a key figure within the broader financial team, specializing in applying accounting principles to analyze data, verify financial information, prepare account reconciliations, and financial reports. This role assists in driving the company's financial strategy, offering indispensable insights based on rigorous analytical reviews. The Senior Accountant provides support ensuring the accounting close and financial reporting are conducted timely and accurately, fostering connections with various departments and regularly working with both internal and external auditors.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, prepares journal entries, and reconciles general ledger accounts including but not limited to bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, payroll liabilities, lease assets and liabilities, intra- and inter-company, and various reserves.
  • Performs flux analysis for various balance sheet and P&L accounts (including researching and identifying the key drivers for the fluctuation as well as preparing journal entries to correct/reclassify the transactions).
  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting relating to Fixed assets including recording of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation and disposition; leads the asset submission review process and actual vs budget tracking tasks for capex; assists with the physical inventory of fixed assets project (planning, coordination, and reconciliation).
  • Assists with preparation of Unclaimed Property reports and annual filings with State agencies and helps support the Annual Budget process.
  • Prepares lease accounting transactions in accordance with ASC 842. Initiates monthly lease payments and ensures they are processed completely, accurately and timely.
  • Prepares analyses and reports as requested by or required by management, the Parent Company, Internal Audit, SOX, external auditors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responds timely and professionally to internal and external inquiries and escalates issues to supervisor or management as needed.
  • Provides accounting guidance to internal teams such as AP, AR, Tax, Finance, Procurement, Operations, IT, HR, and Payroll etc. by understanding the underlying transactions and researching/interpreting the company accounting policies and procedures to ensure it is in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies as well as relevant accounting policies, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • Assists with ad hoc projects and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Strong professional ethics, with an emphasis on meeting deadlines and maintaining accountability
  • Proven ability to work with other team members out of relationships based on mutual trust and respect as well as being versatile as needed
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret large data sets
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel (vlookup, pivot table, sumif, power query, etc.)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution, required
  • 4+ years of professional and progressive experience in Accounting, required 
  • Candidate must be willing to work 3-4 days per month, on-site out of our San Dimas Corporate Office
  • Prior experience in large publicly traded company or subsidiary of a publicly traded company is required
  • Proficiency in Acumatica, Tableau, or other modern ERP/Accounting systems is required
  • Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
