Packaging Tech - 3rd Shift (Personal Services)
The primary responsibility of the packaging technician is to ensure safe and efficient operation of various packaging equipment and related material handling systems to include the Dynac accumulator, labeler, trayformer, palletizer, stretchwrapper, pallet labeler, and associated conveyors. Ensure compliance with all quality standards of finished product. Operate packaging equipment to permit high rates of efficiency and a safe working environment. Operational duties also include proper sanitation, sterilization, equipment C.I.P. and proper cleanliness of the workstation. Participate as a Team Member of their assigned Business Unit. Direction is provided by the Shift Manager who coordinates the activities of Team members involved in the packaging of product for their assigned Business Unit. The Business Unit goals are consistent with company goals and business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to include safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of assigned equipment on the packaging line. Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets.
Request product and materials to assure that the Business Unit goals and customer orders are achieved in a timely fashion.
Complete assigned paperwork daily. Complete all documentation associated with production and change-overs. Maintain accurate records and logs as required.
Perform line observations, calculate downtime, perform safety checks, and quality checks, quality audits, complete maintenance work orders and take action and make recommendations based on these results.
Responsible as replacement operator to cover shift during vacation time, personal time, or other time away from work following the crewing procedures.
Responsible for notifying the Shift Manager if unable to report for work and during illness to specify date of return to work.
Be an active participant in Business Unit team meetings and other Plant meetings by communicating timely and pertinent data when appropriate, and active involvement in analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions to problems within the Business Unit and the Plant.
Ensure a smooth shift change transition (i.e., communicate problems/issues regarding operating equipment, upcoming quantity/product changes, review quality inspections, etc.)
Train new employees and co-workers.
Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and corrective work orders, and work with other support personnel when operational problems occur. Provide data and information to support personnel, such as maintenance, to facilitate the effectiveness of their performance.
Identify and correct equipment problems to maximize production efficiencies, and report potential equipment problems to maintenance.
Comply with area Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance Parameters (QAPs), Good Manufacturing Process (GMPs) Procedures, and ISO Standards. Be knowledgeable in all required Quality Assurance checks and in HACCP related items.
Comply with all company safety procedures and guidelines and comply with all company guidelines and policies.
Clean and sanitize machines to meet legal and quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized work area respecting GMP's.
Ensure that job operations maintain or improve product quality. Stop and correct job operation if product quality is affected negatively.
Rotate positions with other Packaging Team Members. Cross-train and achieve equipment operation certifications on all equipment within the Business Unit.
Work daily overtime and weekends as required.
Maintain OSHA Certified Forklift License.
Demonstrate good attendance.
Effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English.
