Assistant Professor - Management & Leadership (Finance)

Description:

The Department of Management & Leadership in the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting in the fall of 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Strategic Management, Strategic Leadership, Global Leadership, and Strategic Human Resource Management. Applicants from all areas of management will be considered. Existing and/or strong potential for excellence in both scholarly research and teaching will be crucial for the successful applicant.

The Department of Management & Leadership has successfully attracted excellent researchers and teachers at senior and junior levels. Our faculty have published in journals such as Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Leadership Quarterly, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal. They have been honored with many research awards, including best paper awards from Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, and Journal of Organizational Behavior. They also have served and will continue to serve in important editorial positions. The Bauer College is one of the largest AACSB-accredited business programs in the country. It offers undergraduate, MBA, MS, and Ph.D. degrees, and currently has approximately 6,200 undergraduate students and 1,050 graduate students. To meet the needs of our student body, faculty are encouraged to adopt cutting-edge techniques in the classroom, including teaching in a variety of formats (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, and traditional methods). Initiatives created by our Dean and others focus on extending longstanding activities and excellence in several key domains, including but not limited to grand challenges as defined by the United Nations, and artificial intelligence. The Economist recently ranked Bauer College's full-time MBA program #26 among U.S. public business schools.

Qualifications:

• PhD (or ABD) in Management or related fields
• Existing and/or strong potential for excellence in both scholarly research and teaching will be crucial for the successful applicant.
