Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Foundation Grant Writer will identify and develop relationships with granting organizations as well as coordinate the writing and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting performance data of the program activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Generate revenues for the agency's capital projects and programs by conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, corporate, and individual funding sources
  • Identifies new program areas to match institutional priorities, using research tools
  • Work with the Finance Department to gather information necessary for reports to funders on current grant programs

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear compelling proposals
  • Public speaking
  • Demonstrated knowledge in researching likely prospects
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; design work flows and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years experience with grant writing in a nonprofit setting, or demonstrated equivalent or writing abilities
  • Proven history in monitoring and meeting income goals
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two years of related experience and a proven track record in grant writing, or other creative writing experience.
