Aftermarket Electronics Technician (Maintenance)



Position:                      Aftermarket Electronics Technician

Reports to:                   Aftermarket Engineering Manager

Summary:  This position is responsible for providing field and in-house service and basic repair support for our NORD AC Drive Products, AC Motors and other electrical motor accessories.

Description: 

  • Provide technical and field service support of NORD Electric products, AC motors, and electrical motor accessories including troubleshooting, evaluation of operation within the overall system, programming assistance, and fault code analysis.
  • Provide post-sale phone support.
  • Provide bench repair including power section repair and replacement, board replacement, firmware updates, large component repair and final test inspection after repair. 
  • Enhance NORD's ability to evaluate and test returned motors.
  • Facilitate requests for warranty/repair evaluations and restock of electronic products.
  • Provide service reports, estimates, and quotes.
  • Conduct warranty evaluations and determine if returned unit qualifies for warranty coverage.
  • Quality recording.
  • Drive start-up service including assistance in drive installation, assisting customer in drive commissioning as start-up and drive performance optimization.
  • Spare and repair parts sales.
  • Develop preventive maintenance documentation and tools for customers. Offer periodic end-user visits.
  • Inverter exchange program including managing a stock of used drives to be used as replacement units.
  • Conduct training of units.
  • Use power logging equipment to conduct energy audits at end-user facilities.
  • Specification and selection of needed service tools.
  • Be the primary contact for production operations regarding configuration questions and testing requirements.
  • Perform firmware updates and annual power-up of stock units in inventory.
  • Act as a backup to Application Engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience with AC Drives service and/or repair
  • Skills and Key Attributes: Flexible to changing requirements, able to multi-task, good communicator, professional and positive, team player, able to work independently, technically adapt, good problem solving skills, self-motivated, creative, adaptive, and assertive
  • Physical Requirements: The ability to travel without restriction up to 50% of the time on short notice. May include weekends. Able to work at a desk for 8+ hours, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to work in an industrial manufacturing setting.
