Performs a wide range of mechanical equipment repairs and rebuilds involving machining, welding, assembly and testing within B&W's Tucker, GA Service Center facility. Uses knowledge of products and applications to provide verbal and written information to customers and coordinate processing of standard and special parts orders. Assists Tech 1 employees with training, shipping, equipment check-in, and usual rebuild teardown. Works alone with little to no assistance needed for equipment rebuilds.
Interacts with internal BW/DP sales and order entry personnel in supplying technical and non-technical information, handling inquiries and correspondence.
May be responsible for some customer contact, both verbal or written for determining appropriate builds.
Works with other Tech employees to ensure appropriate builds for all equipment through the facility.
Processes orders for standard stock parts or special fabricated parts. Works closely with Parts Sales personnel. May be required to process orders through completion/shipment.
Read and interprets blueprints and bills of material to review and analyze original contracts. Recommends alternatives to customers, including upgrading of obsolete equipment.
Performs equipment rebuild and upgrades for all equipment types with little to no training and assistance needed.
Requires the use of engine lathes, drill presses, milling machines, welders, various other hand tools and test equipment, such as VOMs, megohmmeters, and amp meters. Applies test procedures to determine the integrity of the repaired equipment, requiring detailed knowledge of BW/DP products and applications.
Performs fabrication and assembly work on lance tubes, feed tubes, elements, and complete soot blower assemblies, requiring reading and interpreting drawings, cutting of material to proper length, welding, painting, and testing. Testing includes hydrotesting and electrical checkout.
Keeps records on all parts used during rebuilds.
Submits regular time sheets for use in determining profit and loss on each repair order.
May be required to travel to customer sites to perform a variety of functions, including rebuild or repair of customers equipment and assisting customer as directed.
Performs other responsible duties of a similar nature requiring some use of a computer and other office equipment.
Must have a minimum of (4) years experience in a manufacturing facility along with strong knowledge of mechanical equipment. Must be able to utilize hand tools on a daily basis for performing equipment teardown & assembly.
