Position Summary Coordinate the development, administration, supervision, delivery, and evaluation of aquatic swim team program Essential Duties Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Consistently provide a timely schedule for assistant coaches for maximum utilization of the program.Ensure that all coaching staff is properly certified and trained. This includes, but is not limited to, First Aid CPR w/AED, and attendance at all necessary meetings and/or trainings.Oversee the quality of swim team instruction and offer suggestions for improvement to the Aquatic Director.Ensure the health and safety of all individuals in the pool, i.e. caution regarding unsafe practices and conditions and perform rescue/first aid when necessary. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports.Observes and enforces all rules and regulations of the YMCA, including monitoring swimmers in the locker room, pool area, other YMCA training rooms, as well as off-site facilities. Handle disciplinary actions in a timely equitable and effective manner, according to YMCA policy.Provide overall leadership and management for each swim meet. This will include encouraging swimmer and family participation, completing all required reports and records according to establish timelines and procedures, and maintaining necessary reports and statistical data as required for program management, safety and funding.Work with Aquatic Director to develop and manage the swim team budget. This may include mobilizing support of assigned programs and projects through recruitment of volunteers, as well as soliciting donations of equipment and supplies.Develop and maintain a parent committee. This committee should include the following officers: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, concession chair, records chair, meet organizer and sub-committees as needed.Assist in the recruiting, supervision, training and evaluation of staff. Oversee age group/novice coaches in their development of goal settings and achievement evaluation for age group and novice swimmers.Work with the Aquatic Director and Communications Director to develop marketing and publicity strategies for the swim team program.Responsible for attendance at staff meetings and/or trainings and other scheduled functions.Demonstrate and teach the Character development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA to develop team spirit and family atmosphere.Maintain good public relations with members, program participants, and their families; direct all major problems to Aquatic Director, using the appropriate supervisory channels.Is a member service ambassador, remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules; being prepared to provide personalized direction to other services. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
