Position Overview

Responsible for the overall retail sales and marketing strategy for Cadillac Asphalt HMA division.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Implement the Divisional sales strategies; uphold corporate standards, drive new sales, increase market share and profits.
  • Provide management and leadership for the sales staff, perform regular performance reviews and develop performance and development goals.
  • Participate in the demand and sales forecast process.
  • Interact regularly with operations and other lines of business to be aware of any internal/external conditions that may impact sales and/or the customer.
  • Continually evaluate the market, maintain awareness of the competitive environment and profitable status of each account.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the regional customer base and prepare action plans to convert sales prospects into new accounts.
  • Conduct presentations and discussions to promote the product.
  • Conduct visits to ongoing projects to understand product applications and to help in developing strong customer relationships.
  • Participate in local marketing events.
  • Identify and resolve client concerns should any arise.
  • Travel extensively within the region and as necessary to support and foster the customer relationship.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Education and/or Experience

  • A proven track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with customers, vendors and internal company personnel.
  • Experience in the building materials sector highly desired (specific experience in civil construction or material sales is a plus).
  • Creative and confident with a vision for the future.
  • Experience in managing and developing others.
  • Organized with the ability to think logically and track multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A team player capable of motivating others and have the ability to overcome objections.
  • A thorough knowledge of construction products and services.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft office, including Excel).
  • Proficiency in CRM software - Salesforce or equivalent.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional follow-up.
  • Work requires significant travel to current and potential clients.
  • Requires possession of a valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess a personal vehicle with current auto liability insurance.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
  • Travel required for customer visits; new and existing business.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
