Senior Director, Business Development and Partnerships (Finance)

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Business Development and Partnerships to join the Yahoo News team. This role, reporting to the VP of Revenue and Partnerships, will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives that drive growth through partnerships, both revenue and audience, as well as supporting Yahoo's goal of helping to organize the internet. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of developing high-impact partnerships, negotiating complex talent, film/television, digital video, or other types of content deals, as well as executing and operationalizing business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth, market expansion and efficient revenue generation

- Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with content creators, media platforms, management companies, technology companies, and individual talent

- Lead negotiations for large-scale, complex, and unique content / talent deals, ensuring alignment with company goals.

- Understand and help drive Yahoo's revenue strategy through existing and new partnerships

- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including editorial, product, marketing, legal, and finance, to align partnership efforts with company objectives.

- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the media and technology ecosystem.

- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify emerging opportunities and risks.

- Provide executive-level insights and reporting on partnership performance and strategic initiatives.

- Mentor and lead a high-performing business development team.

Qualifications:

- 10-15+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a related field within the technology, media, or entertainment industry.

- Proven success in developing and executing high-profile content partnerships and talent negotiations.

- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable plans.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.

- Deep understanding of the media landscape, including digital platforms, streaming services, and emerging content formats.

- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and own the full process from ideation to execution

- MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

The compensation for this position ranges from $159,140.00 - $346,075.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
