MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must be 21 years of ageMust have high school diploma or equivalentKnowledge of and ability to conform to applicable laws, rules, and regulations and meets state or provincial health related requirements (as applicable for position)In addition to the above, the following skills are preferred: experience serving senior citizens; familiarity with laws and regulations applicable to the Community, and Human ResourcesDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staffA commercial drivers license may be required for this position; if so, a CDL must be obtained within 60 days of your hire Ability to work in a team setting and as a team playerPossess organization skillsPossess excellent customer service skillsMust be competent and knowledgeable in operations, policies, and proceduresMaintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers and residentsAbility to keep all business and operations information confidentialAbility to work under time constraints and meet department deadlinesAbility to follow and adhere to policies, procedures, and standardsSatisfactorily pass Sunshines and state regulated criminal record clearance, health screening and TB clearance (if applicable)
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads a minimum of 3 activities daily, including fitness and exercise classesSpends 80% of time engaging residents, 20% with administrative dutiesOversees and directs full activities program to span seven days a week, including nights and weekendsMay be required to work nights, weekends, and holidaysAdheres to Sunshine Activities and Wellness StandardsUnderstands and implements Person Centered Care practicesPlans and implements activities of enough variety and at sufficient frequency, including as necessary to fulfill any state regulations, with activity categories to include but not be limited to physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotionalCreates and distributes monthly activities calendar and supplemental publicationsInforms residents of daily activities and ensures the accuracy of information and programing details or, if cancelled, that appropriate alternatives are noted and offeredMaintains adequate resident participation in activities and records attendance when necessaryCompletes activities-related evaluations for new residents and updates as neededCoordinates efforts of community clubs and meetings; including Resident Council, Food Service Forums and Town Hall/Management Meetings.Establishes community involvement through recruitment and training of volunteers; including other team members, residents, and outside community volunteersOversees volunteers, entertainers, religious professionals, and vendorsSupervises Activity Assistants scheduling and training and may assist with hiring process and review protocolsPlans, coordinates, and assists with decoration of community for special events, holidays, and seasonsOrders activities supplies adhering to activities department budgetInvites residents to activities; assures they are reminded of and escorted to activities as necessaryAssists with proper use of fitness equipment; promptly reports any apparent problems with fitness equipment to SupervisorMeets with department heads and other team members on regular basis to facilitate collaborative care programming and large event planning. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessaryAssists with all marketing requests for and social media content as neededAssures activity spaces and any activity supply storage areas are clean and organized, including assuring that any food stored in Activity Room kitchen is stored securelyAssists in the planning of community transportation schedules in conjunction with other team membersCoordinates transportation of residents to and from events outside of the community, which may include driving community transportation and assisting residents entering and exiting the vehicleCreate personalized Life Skills stations for current residents and ensures stations are maintained, replenished, updated and reset as neededEnsure that all equipment and supplies are appropriate and relevant to current residents needs and abilitiesProvide one on one programing for residents who cannot participate in group settingsCoordinates monthly Wellness Seminars for families and outside community members, held on a consistent basisTrains team members on the importance of Life Enrichment and other areas of quality of life for residentsPerforms other duties as assigned by Supervisor
