Planner (Architecture)

What you'll be challenged to do:

Entry level position in which the individual learns to apply planning theory and knowledge in assisting more experienced planners in meeting clients planning needs in the areas of transportation/transit planning, environmental planning and documentation, multimodal planning, land use planning, and associated specialties.

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions from the Project Manager or Senior Planners as to the general results expected.
  • Conduct research and documentation comprised of the initial phases of the various project tasks.
  • Gather and analyze data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
  • Work as part of the team to visualize solution concepts and assist in preparing recommendations and alternatives.
  • Compose written reports with supporting graphics to document planning process and solutions
  • Attends and participates in internal team meetings and applies manager's feedback when making project revisions.
  • Participate in on-site inspections, inventorying, and documentation of existing site conditions, participate in public meetings and stakeholder outreach

 


Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

  • Zero to 5 years experience. Master's degree a plus.

  • Required to be in office a minimum of three days a week.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Seeks opportunities to develop the ability to speak effectively before clients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Basic math ability to perform data analysis.

  • General ability to solve practical problems which may occur and/or know when to seek direction from supervisor.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and GIS required.  Adobe InDesign is perferred.
  • Master's degree a plus.
