This position is responsible for leading the Continuous Improvement and Productivity initiatives for their assigned Business Unit.  The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager shall be responsible for providing the expertise and leadership necessary to develop and implement Continuous Improvement and Productivity initiatives aimed at producing high quality products, in a safe, efficient, and cost effective environment.  They will drive CI programs and have leadership accountabilities in the delivery of the BU's productivity targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements continuous improvement initiatives with an overall goal of improving the safety, quality, waste reduction and efficiency metrics while driving and delivering financial savings. 
  • Leads the troubleshooting and problem solving and performance improvement projects at all levels of the organization for the BU; conducts situation assessments and evaluation to improve performance and measure success; systematically determines opportunities and drives end to end productivity to meet the financial goals of the BU.
  • Utilization of continuous improvement methodologies such as:  5S, Autonomous Maintenance, SMED (Quick Changeover), value stream mapping, and visual controls to achieve desired outcomes. Drives changes in operations, sales and marketing, business processes and quality.
  • Researches and analyzes basic and complex issues surrounding the processes and systems of an organization. Makes recommendations surrounding improving processes, efficiency and practices.
  • Establishes and maintains systems to ensure quality such as “right the first time” or “no fault forward” programs.
  • Researches new technologies and procedures to enhance production and best in class continuous improvement approach.
  • Leads complex cross functional improvement projects from conception to delivery, on time, and within budget constraints.  Drives accountability of the CI processes in the facilities.
  • Develops and maintains tracking documents for productivity savings projects for the BU.  Including developing timelines, analysis and other project management tasks.
  • Coach and develop Continuous Improvement Coordinators and appropriate team members
  • Supports supply chain and other functions of B&G Food Company; Develops and coaches directors on implementing and sustaining a CI culture.
  • Develops core continuous improvement strategy across the BU plants that are calibrated and aligned to the overall company CI strategy. Develops consistent CI programs and language across all location of B&G. 
  • Develops business partnerships with various Department Managers such as:  Packaging, Maintenance, Processing, Warehouse, Quality, Sanitation, and Safety to insure that resources are allocated appropriately to achieve Continuous Improvement objectives.
  • Identify and communicate food safety issues; lead and influence food safety initiatives. 

Experience, Skills, Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Manufacturing, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management. Or 5 years of proven track record leading continuous improvement initiatives in a plant manufacturing environment required

  • SQF Practitioner certification preferred, will need to obtain in first 6 months if not currently certified

  • HACCP certification preferred, will need to obtain in first 6 months if not currently certified

  • Lean Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred

  • Previous ERP System experience required, JD Edwards preferred

  • Proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite required

  • Knowledge of packaging equipment highly preferred
