Senior Manager, Software Engineer - Mobile Application Development (Architecture)
The Mobile Development Sr. Manager, Software Engineer, supports a team of Software Development Engineers. This position participates in the evaluation and prioritization of customer and user requests. Managing team activities, providing functional guidance and completing individual tasks as needed. Ensures the team follows Agile best practices as defined by Express Scripts. Participates in cross-departmental Technology initiatives. The Technology Manager has accountability for the work of all members of the team, and represents, strategizes, and promotes methodologies and processes and devises improvements to the current processes. The Sr. Manager is also responsible for providing timely feedback to their team members and assisting their leadership with year-end calibration and identification of high performers.
The Sr. manager is responsible in leading the mobile development team as a people leader, and scrum master, in the day-to-day activities that will serve the mobile teams. The sr. manager will support various team activities for the mobile client teams, participating story grooming sessions, assisting TPO with backlogs and project reviews. This may include sprint planning, sprint demos and retrospectives that assists the team to a continuous improvement culture. The sr. manager must possess high competence in communication, negotiation, listening, mitigate conflict, build alliances and achieve desired results using strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
JOB SCOPE & ABILITIES:
Provides direction and manages mid-level professional employees, high-level non-exempts, and/or supervisors; may manage technical/business support or production/operation staff; Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function; Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resources and operational changes; Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Ability to lead high talent teams in local and remote locations; Previous supervisory experience in leading a technical team or managing a larger cross-functional team of non-direct reports; Ability to motivate employees, handle difficult employee relations issues and create a culture that supports high employee morale; Conceptual knowledge of IT concepts, procedures and practices; Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions; Demonstrated ability to prioritize work load and meet project deadlines; Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions; Extremely detail oriented; Strong customer service focus; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines
