Senior Director, Aviation (Government)
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sr. Director of Aviation Operations will oversee and manage all aspects of the corporate aviation department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the company's aircraft. This is a non-flying role which requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in aviation operations, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage a team of aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the aviation operations team.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of aviation staff, including pilots, maintenance personnel, and support staff.
Operational Oversight:
Ensure all flight operations comply with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Manage the scheduling and dispatching of aircraft to meet corporate travel needs.
Oversee the maintenance and airworthiness of the company's aircraft, ensuring all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the aviation department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Monitor and control operational expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and crew costs.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to optimize costs and service quality.
Safety and Compliance:
Promote a culture of safety within the aviation department.
Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations and standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Strategic Planning:
Develop long-term plans for the aviation department, including fleet management, technology upgrades, and process improvements.
Collaborate with senior management to align aviation operations with corporate goals and objectives.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, recommending and implementing changes to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of FAA regulations and corporate aviation standards.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
This position may require occasional travel.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

AviationThe salary range for this role is:
$221,500.00 - $312,200.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
