Your Next Career Opportunity – Senior Cloud Engineer

The Senior, Cloud Engineer is a hands-on individual contributor role within SBA Communications' Cloud Engineering team, responsible for building, optimizing, and securing cloud infrastructure with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure. Under the direction of the Manager, Cloud Engineering, this position requires a seasoned technical professional with extensive Azure experience and a comprehensive understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipeline development, identity and access management, and cloud security best practices. While the primary focus is on Azure, the role also benefits from working knowledge of other cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, and Oracle Cloud to support interoperability within a hybrid cloud environment.  The Senior, Cloud Engineer will collaborate across infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure cloud environments are secure, resilient, and cost-optimized. They will play a key role in driving modern cloud practices into the organization, assisting with remediation efforts, developing policy, and contributing to enterprise cloud architecture strategies that support hybrid environments.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities

  • Cloud Engineering & Operations: Deploy, manage, and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure and services including compute, networking, storage, and databases. Maintain platform reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code technologies. Support and promote CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps or related tools.
  • DevOps Enablement: Partner with application and platform teams to champion DevOps culture and automation practices. Contribute to the integration and operationalization of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Policy & Identity Governance: Define and implement cloud policies, RBAC models, and identity/access management standards across environments. Administer Azure AD roles, groups, and permissions.
  • Security & Compliance Support: Collaborate with security teams to interpret tool-generated findings and implement required remediations. Enforce cloud security best practices including use of Azure Policy and other technologies.
  • Hybrid Cloud Support: Provide technical guidance on hybrid cloud configurations integrating Azure with on-prem infrastructure. Support secure network connectivity, ExpressRoute, and VPN-based access.
  • Monitoring & Cost Management: Configure monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, etc.) and assist with cost tracking, right-sizing, and budget optimization.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with evolving Azure capabilities, DevOps trends, and cloud-native innovations. Recommend platform improvements based on market and technical developments.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

What You'll Need – Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent of progressive experience in cloud computing, with deep expertise in designing, deploying, and operating solutions on Microsoft Azure, Exposure to GCP, OCI, and AWS is a plus.
    • and 5-years Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing employee/contractor relations items in conjunction with management.
  • Valid Government Issued Driver's License
